| | Situated less than 30 minutes from the international airport at Malaga, La Cala has a newly built promenade runs the length of its well-maintained blue flag beach. An excellent tennis club and a bowling green are amongst the variety of sports clubs in the village along with an abundance of shops, bars and restaurants catering for all tastes including Spanish, Indian, Chinese, Thai and English.
On the outskirts of La Cala lies the Hippodromo hosting the local horse races, in July and August the meets take place on Saturday nights from 10pm to 2am, whilst In the winter racing is on Sunday from 12am to 2pm lunchtime. The racecourse was designed with a vast selection of bars and restaurants, some with live music all overlooking the extensive terraces leading to the track. An evening at the races is an excellent and entertaining night out for the whole family. La Cala also boasts fine golf courses set in picturesque surroundings, which are popular all year round, making it an ideal place for an all-round family holiday.
